Catching Up

It's been a while and a lot has been going on.

Two weeks ago today I embarked on a journey to Indy for Ross Chasey's bachelor party.  I'll say it... I love Christian bachelor parties.  They always have just the right blend of vulnerability, encouragement, bonding, and masculinity before sending a man to be one with a woman.  This one was no exception and it was a joy for us all to send Ross off into marriage with Heather.  The time of reuniting with my fellow Hoosiers was a dear blessing as well... it wasn't hard to see that we all missed one another dearly.  I also had the opportunity to see and stay with Zac, one of my best friends since childhood, and his wife, Jaime.  Time with these two is always a joy for me and the distance between our last time together made it all the better.  Zac, myself, and two other friends also got to spend some sweet time playing frisbee golf, and then hit up McD's to quench our craving for fastfood.  Sadly, for these guys grease is a treat and not a way of life because of the women in their lives...

Also during this trip I got to spend some time getting to know "my boy" John's parents, and then got to catch up with him and some other STUD's.  Sadly, I had to speed back from Indy and miss Ross and Heather's wedding in Bloomington.

My early departure was due to the graduation ceremony for the program I'm in, the Pittsburgh Fellows.  This was a nice ending to the year and was followed by a "Texas BBQ" at the Funk's, a nice and helpful family I've gotten to know out here.  All in all, my time as a Fellow is over and now I'm just continuing my internship in the student ministry at St. Stephen's.  Summer youth ministry is great considering we spend lots of time with guys playing sports - hittin' up the par 3 course, 3 on 3 soccer in the rain on a cement court, and some ultimate frisbee action.  I'll also be picking up some hours as a church sexton, aka janitor.

My roommates Neil and Aaron from the program and I have just moved into the old associate pastor's home on the church property... so instead of walking 4 blocks to work, I now walk across the parking lot.  The house is pretty nice and quiet though... Aaron's on vacation and Neil and I spend most of our time together.  He just came on staff with the student ministries and... though I'm not proud to admit it, we've both been addicted to Lost.

Though not an event but surely worth mentioning, a lady named Kamala is back in town making my summer much more enjoyable.  She has been a great source of strength for me in the past few days.  The LORD knows how much I am blessed by her.

Well, that's about it for my life.  I still haven't made any final decisions as to what my next adventure/undertaking will be, but God's got it in His hands, even when I'm not aware of it.  Praise Him for His faithfulness, even when we are not faithful - 2 Timothy 2:13.

Summer's here... finally,
Lane
