Once A Mom

In honor of Mother's Day, I just wanted to share something very quickly.  My parents visited this weekend and were able to come to Church of the Good Shepherd this morning.  In light of the holiday, I knew they would hear Tim preach about women, and he did.  (And I wish every follower of Christ, especially women, could hear it.  I would put up a link to it, but because of the nature of its very personal content, it will not be downloadable.)  I sat next to my mom during the service and thought about the fact that she quit her job at Ford Motor Credit when I was born.  With that act she determined that raising me was far more important than "bringing in some extra funds" and "being her own person".  She was a mom.  And she still is.  I couldn't list then things she's done for me even during their 24 hour trip down here.  Thanks, Mom, for all you've done that I could never see.

As she repeated earlier today, "Once a mom, always a mom".

Lambert

As I lay on the couch this evening I began to think about how much of a coward I have been in the past. Other words came to mind, and one of them, sheepish, reminded me of an old Disney short cartoon. Lambert the Sheepish Lion was one of my favorites, and the whole cartoon still sticks with me today, especially the tune. What was even more telling was that this was my story. The akwardness, the bullying, feeling totally out of place, trying to be something I'm not, etc. Even at age five or six I could deeply relate to Lambert. Don't know the story? Watch below.

We all like to believe that when danger comes we'll be there to fight.  However, we all also know this isn't true.  If only disaster could bring us to action...

Or the Lion and the Lamb, Jesus Christ.
