For The Love Of Fish (And Babies)
"In 2004, for example, researchers on the Potomac River, downstream from Washington, D.C., found large-mouth bass that in most respects were males, but who had eggs in their sexual organs. Quite often when this happens to fish, they find themselves unable to reproduce. When it happens primarily to male fish, the fish population in general suffers."But I bet you can't guess what horomone pollutant causes this condition termed "intersex." Your hint is that liberal environmentalists have to "pick their poison."
Read on.

Yeah, I'd agree in that the dialogue surrounding stream pollution that affects fish populations largely surrounds things like 'heavy metal' poisoning (i.e. mercury) ... because then we can link it back to us. We eat fish and can’t eat them if there’s too much mercury!
But, to be perfectly honest, what saddened me about the article is this grouping of environmentalists with "liberals" in a negative light and tying them all in with “pill-poppers” so to speak. And that (again, generally speaking, which admittedly doesn't accomplish much) conservatives don't care about environmental issues unless it's linked to taking stabs at 'liberals'. Hypothetically speaking, what if the 'intersex' conditions *wasn't* linked to the pill ... would this particular environmental problem get any attention from conservatives?
The article said this: “So government bureaucrats, the enforcement wing of liberal environmentalism, officially refuse to do anything”
The same could be said in another way about environmental issues stemming from corporations that affect the poor (and yes, poor babies): “Government bureaucrats, the enforcement wing of conservative elitism, officially refuse to do anything.”
I would argue that both liberals and conservatives see environmental issues as an after-thought (though, in different ways) and that’s a problem. The link between the pill and intersexing of fish populations has been noted for awhile and nothing’s changed. Maybe the ‘liberal environmentalists’ are to blame. Declining fish populations are also due to a number of other factors, much of them related to business … and while this has been noted for an even longer period of time, it’s still a problem and affects mostly those who are socially and economically marginalized. Maybe conservatives are to blame.
Just food for thought. I don't really have answers :)

Thanks for the comment. I apologize for the post because I didn't make it clear. Here's where I'm coming from...
The mention of my recent fishing adventures was only an introduction to the topic.
The comment about liberal environmentalists was only an enticer so people would actually read the story.
The title 'for the love of fish (and babies)' is more of a joke hoping you get the point that it's really about babies.
But here's the deal, I link to the article so that people begin to connect the use of the pill to further destruction of God's creation. Any honest pagan would realize that God is judging us for our hatred of children through such means. "A pill that prevents people from having babies now pollutes the water so that fish can't reproduce." I mean, duh? So I hope that makes it clear what I want people to get from this. I'm sure you could run me in circles concerning political matters, and have a valid point here, but maybe you could read the post again and see what you think? Do I need to explicitly state what God's judgment is or can I leave it open for people to use discernment? (Comment this)
Haha, yeah that makes total sense!!
I like the "duh". It's definitely a good point.
And, I would say it doesn't just affect fish, it circles back to us.
Poor fish populations or lack of ability of fish to breed messes up the entire stream ecosystem and directly affects water quality, etc. To make it even worse ... it's that 'sins of the father's' thing where I fear the effects of our generation's lack of regard for children today will harm our future children in ways much more complex and harmful! Not good. At least, I'm not okay with that... (Comment this)
